This book is basically about a boy named moose and his sister Natalie trying to live a normal life, but their dad has a job on Alcatraz, where the worst of the worst criminals live, including a mobster named Al Capone. Moose hits some problems including a feud with the wardens bratty daughter: Piper. This book is an untold story of a life on Alcatraz with true parts mixed in with fiction parts.
I would rate this book a 6 out of 10 stars because I expected that it would be about Al Capone and more of his untold story when he lived on Alcatraz instead of about Moose and all of his problems while living on the prison grounds. But the reason why I rated it a 6 is because I really liked the depth to the story and how much detail was included.
I think someone who enjoys a good realistic fiction book because moose and his Autism struck sister get into some situations where their parents can’t find out about it. Oh, and it’s realistic fiction because Al Capone actually does laundry and he washes moose’s shirts. Al Capone also enjoyed playing baseball which also occurs in this story. In fact, I think my Dad would like this book because he likes to watch movies about the mob. Book Review by: Keegan
If you like reading about prisons, and you like reading about the 1935 time period, then this book is definatly for you. This book takes place on Alcatraz, a prison for the worst of the worst prisoners. It is about a 11 year old boy named moose, who moves from Santa Minaco to Alcatraz because his dad gets a job as a electrition and a guard. Moose has a "10" year old sister named Natalie. She has a very bad case of autism, but back then, no one knew what autism was, so she was treated badly.
This book has a lot of humor in it, and it has a very good message to it. I would recamend this book to people between the ages of 8 and 15. I would give this book a 8 out of 10 star. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. Enjoy. Book Review by: Nate Ruplinger
